A Note from Joyce 

If you picture an author sitting at the computer writing a book or a course, that would be an accurate picture of me. My summer was dedicated to updating the CE classes with cases, scenarios, and activities!

Full disclosure: Claude (artificial intelligence) helped me edit, design, and research cases. Every slide and handout was included only after my final review. Let me assure you — until you have had your writing edited by AI, you have no idea how detailed and thorough it can be!

The bottom line is I'm really, really proud of these classes. They are designed to be interactive and knowledgeable. Class descriptions follow the calendar below.

• Full-day Core Courses (9 AM – 4 PM): lunch is Noon – 1 PM.

Class Descriptions

Kentucky Agency Law

3 Hrs CE Law Credit or 3 Hrs Post-Licensure (PLE) Credit

In this class you will learn:

• What agency is, how it forms, how it hasn't changed since the Roman Empire, and the four Kentucky relationships.
• "Spot the Breach" scenarios, with suggested language to avoid the breach.
• The forms — when they are triggered and how they protect both the client and the licensee.

An agency class must include a discussion of the fiduciary duties, and this course includes cases that show how they were breached.

Kentucky Advertising Law

3 Hrs CE Law Credit or 3 Hrs Post-Licensure (PLE) Credit

In this class you will learn:

• What's the difference between an advertisement and a private communication?
• What is false, misleading, and deceptive advertising?
• What are the requirements for team advertising?
• What is the "required content" under Kentucky law?
• What are the advertising requirements for commercial and out-of-state brokers?
• How to use AI as your marketing assistant.

Code of Ethics & Kentucky Laws

3 Hrs CE Elective Credit

If you are a REALTOR®, an Ethics course is required by December 31, 2027. This course is designed to meet NAR's requirements. Report your attendance to your Association or Board after your certificate is issued; we will report your attendance to the KREC.

In this class you will learn:

• Why are ethics important?
• Review the history of the Code of Ethics.
• Name the three sections of the Pathways to Professionalism.
• Differentiate between arbitration and mediation.
• Recognize the structure of the Code and how it is enforced.
• Compare Kentucky laws and the Code.
• Identify the unauthorized practice of law.

Fair Housing

3 Hrs CE Law Credit OR 3 hrs ple credit

If you are a REALTOR®, a Fair Housing class is required by December 31, 2027 (this includes commercial agents, auctioneers, and appraisers who are REALTORS®). Report your attendance to your Association or Board after your certificate is issued; we will report your attendance to the KREC.

In this class you will learn:

• Why fair housing laws are necessary — the history of housing discrimination and its lasting impact.
• The laws that make housing discrimination illegal, and the actions prohibited and required in the business of real estate.
• The protected classes, and how Kentucky and federal law differ.
• How the Kentucky Real Estate Commission and the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights work together.
• Recent Kentucky fair housing cases and settlements.
• Define disparate impact, reasonable accommodations, and reasonable modifications.
• What is implicit bias?
• Locate the Fair Housing Declaration at NAR.REALTOR.
• Five things to know before you let an AI tool write your next listing.

Kentucky Core Course

6 Hrs Law Credit

What does the KREC want you to know? That's what this course will tell you! We discuss current issues, artificial intelligence, and a review of Kentucky laws. This course is developed by the KREC, and active licensees must attend every four years.

If it is your year to attend the Core Course, it is the ONLY class that will meet your CE requirements. Log in to your eServices account to find out if it is your year:
