Below are most of the questions that people ask, but if you have others, just give us a call or send us an email.
Please read this entire page.  Registration is at the bottom of the page.

How do I qualify for a Kentucky real estate license?

The Kentucky Real Estate Commission requires that you:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have a copy of a high school diploma, GED, high school transcript, or a copy of a college degree or transcript
from a college or university showing completion of at least 28 credit hours. (This is sent to the KREC when you pass the state exam.)
  • complete 96 clock hours of prelicense classes, complete a class project, and pass the class exam with a score of 75% or higher;
or you may have six college credit hours in real estate
  • pass the state exam with a score of 75% or higher
  • have an FBI Criminal Background Check - Complete information can be found here.
  • affiliate with a principal broker who will hold your real estate license - You have 60 days after you pass the state exam to affiliate with a broker.

The Criminal Background Check must indicate that there have been no felony convictions at any time
or any misdemeanor convictions within the previous five-year period.

Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify someone from getting a real estate license,
but there will be other steps to take to secure your Kentucky Real Estate license.

Read this page for complete information regarding the background check.

Why pay more? Our tuition is $359.
The tuition includes your book From the Ground Up, the Kentucky Real Estate Law Review (PDF) and the Pass MY Real Estate Exam Review Videos.
(The review materials are $99.99, if they are purchased separately.) The FTGU book is sent by Priority Mail and arrives in about three business days.

What is your course so cost effective?
The bottom line is that I've put my "sweat equity" into this book and course. My first real estate book was published in 1996.
(Do a Google Search - Guide to Passing the AMP Real Estate Exam or Joyce Bea Sterling) With other leaders in the industry,
we published From the Ground Up, Foundations for Building a Successful Real Estate Practice. We also developed the 60 hours of class materials
for this national section of the course, and the Learning Management System is owned by the same company.

We are cost effective because we do not pay licensing rights to use other people's materials and systems. Our Learning Management System
is state-of-the art and has been approved by ARELLO, or the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials.

Go here to read the first chapters of the book and the industry leaders who contributed to the book and course.  A physical book is mailed to you and it is yours to keep. Read it, highlight it, write in the margins! Research shows that most of us learn better with a physical book.

We are the only school in Kentucky that offers this course and the only place you can purchase
From the Ground Up is from a school who uses our system.

When can I get started with my classes?
Today! As soon as you register, just look in the upper RIGHT corner for My Student Center.
Those words will take you to your  portal where you can get started!

You attend all classes from the comfort of your home or office. There's no driving. You just login and learn.  The course is designed so that if you have even 15 minutes you can probably complete a section.

From the Ground Up will teach you the basics of real estate principles and practices which will prepare you for the national  section of your exam. From the Ground Up is 60 hours of the 96 required hours.

Our Learning Management System is state-of-the-art! When you login to attend a class, your progress is bookmarked.  This provides peace of mind that should you have to log out, you will not have to repeat the entire segment when you login. You'll just pick up where you left off.

The Kentucky Law Course is 32 hours and prepares you for the Kentucky section of the exam. The final four hours of class is the class test, which if offered via Zoom. It is normally given on Tuesday evenings and the calendar is found at this page. https://2myclasses.com/Page.php?id=925

This means you never leave the comfort of your home to complete the course.

The tuition includes on online review to prepare you for the class test and the state exam.
Of course your instructor is readily available to help you by phone, email, text, or Zoom.

Who is my instructor?
That's a GREAT question! Your instructor is Joyce Bea Sterling, DREI, or Distinguished Real Estate Instructor, who has taught real  estate classes
for over 30 years. She is the only current DREI in Kentucky. This designation was earned from her peers at the National Real Estate Educators Association.  She has also taught at the National Association of REALTORS(R) conventions and many REALTOR(R) Associations.
Any course is only as good as the instructor and she is simply one of the BEST!

What are the technical requirements?
You must have a high speed internet connection and a webcam. A wired connection is best.
If you have fiber optics or a very stable wireless connection, it usually works just fine.

What is your attendance policy?
You have six months from the date of enrollment to complete the 96 hours of classes.
This may be extended for free for another six months from the date of enrollment to complete the course. One additional 6 month extension will be $100. If there is a new edition of the book, the 6 month extension is $150.

How long does it take to complete the course?
That depends on your schedule! In January we had a person finished the classes in 3.5 weeks,
but most people take 2 to 3 months to finish the classes and secure their license.

What are the other expenses?
When you get your real estate license, you will be in your own business. It's important to know the upfront expenses.  Here's a basic list.

Tuition - $359
State Exam Fee - $100
Kentucky Real Estate License Fee - $130 for an active license; $120 for an inactive license
Errors and Omissions Insurance
- The two year policy is approximate $250.
Fingerprints and Criminal Record Check - $51.25
The FBI Criminal Record Check is $18.

If your sponsoring broker is a REALTOR(R), you will be required to become a REALTOR(R) and pay the Board dues and Multiple Listing Service dues.
Depending on the Board, these will be at least $1,200 annually. Most Boards will allow you to pay  quarterly.
Your broker will be able to tell you what those fees are.

Also, you may want to have money for additional business expenses.

What are the policies of the 2 My Classes, LLC?
That's another great question!  Students may cancel enrollment by written notification within five days of payment.
Written notification may be sent by emailing Joyce Bea Sterling at Joyce@2MyClasses.com
Delivery confirmation by email is the responsibility of the student.

If a student cancels an enrollment, all materials must be returned at the student's expense in re-salable condition within 5 days.
Cancellation is subject to a $200 cancellation fee. Refunds will be issued after the materials are returned.

The Kentucky Real Estate Commission requires that a student be seen at all times by the web cam when you take your class test.
Any instructor has complete authority to dismiss any student from any class for not being seen by the web cam or any other conduct
deemed by the instructor to be adverse to the best interest of the class.

When do I receive my certificate of completion?
A certificate will be issued upon attendance to the required classes, completion of a class project and passing the class test.
Additional certificates will be issued for a $10 fee.

When you register you are attesting that the person enrolling in the class is the person
who will be attending the classes and that you have read and agree to the above terms.

If you are making the payment for someone else, email me the person's name, address, phone number and email address
so the correct person is attending the course.  Joyce@2MyClasses.com

Testimonials
"I really enjoyed the class. Joyce mixed in real life examples to go along with the material covered which made the concepts much easier to understand. Also, her preparation strategies along with the review materials she provided really helped me prepare for the test. She was very knowledgeable on the subject matter and it is clear that she has a real passion for real estate."

"One of the most pleasant people I have met. Joyce Bea Sterling is a true professional and an expert in her craft. I definitely will recommend others looking to start in real estate to take this course."

"This was an exception class!  The material was presented well, the instructor was  extremely organized, knowledgeable, encouraging and patient.  Every minute of the course was professional and efficiently  geared toward learning about Real Estate and Real Estate Law.  I have earned well over 200 college credit hours and this course stands out as one of the very best I can remember in either undergraduate school of graduate school. I highly recommend this class to anyone wishing to enter the practice of real estate."
